The Knight of the Black Rose, is in many ways, a song attached to classic and traditional heavy metal, not only for its rhythm and structure, but also for its lyrics, which covers a recurring theme for school old school metal heads: fantasy characters and tabletop RPG. The song tells the story of Lord Soth (character created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman for their novel Dragonlance), who in exchange of his mistakes was cursed by the gods and condemned to eternal suffering in the company of his specters.
